Product Overview
CLARUS MARK II SOURCE POWER CABLES
Hear More Of The Recorded Information
Clarus source power cables are ideal for line-level components such as CD players, DACs, media servers, processors, and preamplifiers.
Clarus designs power cables specifically to minimize noise, support a 50/60 Hz low-frequency AC signal, and supply the current demands of audio components without any loss of dynamics. Noise rejection is critical, and Clarus source power cables rely on proprietary winding techniques and triple shielding to limit electromagnetic interference (EMI) from a building’s electrical grid, thus ensuring a low noise floor for sensitive source components. Clarus engineers power cables with a specialized dielectric formula and connector explicitly developed to dampen AC vibrational noise.
Technology
The Purest Copper Available for the Purest Sound Possible
Clarus designs cables for discriminating audiophiles using the purest copper available. Pure Continuous Cast Copper (PCCC) uses a unique proprietary mold extrusion process that creates substantial lengths of single-crystal copper that is directional, free of impurities, flexible and corrosion-resistant, with low electrical resistance, and non-crystal boundaries that are structurally perfect.
The Importance of Conductor Geometry in Power Delivery
Current capabilities for power cables are a major concern. Wire gauges must be sufficient in size so as not to starve current, but when only large conductors are used a cable tends to lose dynamics. Clarus MKII multi-gauge design responds quickly to transients and prevent loss of signal. PCCC conductors are individually insulated and proprietary winding techniques eliminate distortion. The result is an obvious audible improvement by lowering the noise, you hear more of the recorded information.
Triple Shielding Reduces RF and EMI Noise
Clarus source power cables utilize three shielding layers to minimize RF and EMI-induced noise. This approach results in an exceptionally low noise floor that allows you to hear more of the recorded music.
Mark II – The Final Connection – Source Power Cables
Clarus Mark II source power cords are terminated with high-performance US Type B and IEC C15 connectors. Since IEC receptacles are notorious for accidental disconnection, Clarus designed it’s C15 connector with a proprietary high-retention connector. If you look closely at the molded end of the IEC C15, there is a raised collar. Simply insert plug into an IEC receptacle and you will feel a click when the plug has seated securely for a tight fit and reliable connection.
Connector contacts and termination pins are made with C1100 pure copper which has superior electrical and thermal conductivity. C1100 is rated 101% electrical conductivity by the International Annealed Copper Society, IACS. To keep the contacts from oxidizing, the copper is gold plated. High-conductivity materials provide exceptionally low resistance with superior sound characteristics.
The connector housing is machined out of polymethylene (POM) and covered with a multi-layer of brass and carbon fiber. POM boasts excellent mechanical strength and vibration damping properties for noise reduction, while the multi-layer shielding protects from noise entering the AC signal. A heavy-duty strain relief design provides the final level of protection that guarantees safe, long-term reliability.
